Parish Activities
ST VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY
At Our Lady we currently have 3 members. We visit people in their own homes, care homes and in hospital and offer them sincere friendship. We offer practical support or financial help where needed. We visit and help anyone who is in need with no differentiation on the grounds of faith, ethnicity, status or sexual orientation. Last year we made a total of 480 visits.
CAFOD
We are the official aid agency for the Catholic Church in England and Wales. With your help, we reach out to people living in hard-to-reach places, in war zones and to those who are discriminated against. Our experts provide long-term aid to equip people with the skills, tools and opportunities to live with dignity, support their families and give back to their communities.
CATENIAN ASSOCIATION
Our primary purpose is to establish a network of friends, which enhances family life, strengthens Faith and sustains in difficult times. We support each other, the Catholic Church, young people and those in need. Our friendships are developed by meeting together locally once month and enjoying a varied programme of social events together with our families and the widows of members. For more information please see the Association’s website thecatenians.com
THE FILM CLUB
meets on the first Friday in the month in the afternoon, at the parish centre. The films are mainly, but not always, new releases. It is open to all. Free but perhaps a small donation towards the licence and refreshments.
COFFEE MORNING
We also have a coffee morning on the third Friday in the month. Again it is at the parish centre and open to all.
200 CLUB
We also run a 200 Club from the coffee morning to which anyone can join. Please come along to find out more.
THE GOLF SOCIETY
Currently we have 35 members and an average turnout of 18 members for each golf day. The number of golf days we play is five. Members meet at a pre-arranged golf course within 60 minutes driving time of Lytham St Annes for 18 holes of golf, with catering before and after the golf.
THE OPERATIC AND DRAMATIC SOCIETY
was first formed in 1903 but revived in its current format in 1969. The society generally performs a variety of productions throughout the year such as, cabarets, murder mystery evenings, games nights, plays and their sing along Christmas Carol evening. But perhaps the highlight of the year for the group is their annual pantomime where they produce the magic themselves, painting and creating scenery, props and costumes. They are also are blessed with musicians who play live music for all performances. This group also provides technical support for the fully equipped Parish Centre stage as well as hiring out costumes from their well stocked wardrobe department.
